Can somebody tell me who Jules Bass is?
Bass, an animator and musician, and ABC art director Arthur Rankin Jr. are most known for their work on stop-motion and animated TV shows in the 1960s and 1970s. Rankin/Bass Animated Entertainment, often known as Rankin/Bass Productions, Inc., is responsible for several popular Christmas specials with such stars as Mickey Rooney, Fred Astaire, and Burl Ives.
It’s the holiday season, and you know what that means: some of their most famous compositions are now regarded standards, including:
A Red-Nosed Reindeer Is Singing
Frosty the Snowman”
It was “The Year There Was No Santa Claus.”
“A Glittering New Year for Rudolph”
“The Jolly Old Elf Is Headed This Way”
These television programmes were frequently based on well-known Christmas songs and featured cel animation that created the effect that snow was falling.
Bass’s young audience is represented in multiple stories by Herb the Vegetarian Dragon. The 2011 film Monte Carlo, starring Selena Gomez, was based on his novel Headhunters, which follows a group of Texan women as they journey to Europe in quest of husbands.
